It's Wednesday, June 27, 2007, and I am at Redeye Knight's home to mix the
majority of Frank's ashes with the clay. Redeye documented this first real activity,
all photos on this page are Copyright 2007 in Redeye's name,
but the pictures are hereby released for free public use and distribution.

The implements of dee-struction                                                                                         The first grab of the clay ...

And we mix and we mix                                                                              The Guest of Honor arrives!

Reopening the seal                                                                                          Ready to receive the cremains

The first if the ashes is added to the clay.

The first fold is made                                                                                                    And we mix ...

And we mix ...                                                                                                            And we mix ...

Boy, by the time I get done with his project, I'll have forearms like Popeye!                                                     Careful not to miss any ...

Finally, the consistency is good throughout! (Isn't my hairstyle in these two shots a scream?)
So this material will be used for the "heart" of the statue, a separate pendant that will go inside, behind the clock. This is so that if some disaster
befalls the statue, the majority of the ashes will be protected. This clay will also be used to create the guitar.

It will also be used to make several small cones for a firing test to see what the difference between the clay with and without the ashes added is,
and during this test I'll see how to operate the kiln, do set-ups, and refresh myself on the firing and glazing processes.
These cones will later be embedded inside the finished statue as well.

Any leftover clay from this batch and all remaining cremains will be blended into the
main mass of the statue itself, concentrated in the gorilla body, not the base.

This record will be continued!
