WHO  I  AM
I am William R. Warren, Jr., a freelance illustrator and artist who works in many fields but specializes in science fiction and fantasy. I have been a professional artist for most of my working career ( beginning in 1975 as the Art Director of INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MAGAZINE and MADE IN USA MAGAZINE ), but have created art for my own amusement and others' pleasure for as long as I've been able to hold a crayon.

My art has appeared in and on ANALOG SCIENCE FICTION / FACT, THE WRITERS OF THE FUTURE ( Bridge Publications ),
( not as a contestant, but a past Judge for the Illustrators of the Future Contest that ran in parallel to the Writers of the Future Contest ),
ALFRED HITCHCOCK'S MYSTERY MAGAZINE, THE STAR TREK CONCORDANCE ( Ballantine Books ), THE AMERICAN REVIEW OF PHYSICS, TOMORROW SPECULATIVE FICTION, AMAZING STORIES, Cyn Mason's WET VISIONS, and I collaborated with other talented artists on a cover and interior illustrations of the Boeing Sonic Cruiser for POPULAR MECHANICS.

I was also the Art Director for Wild West Shirt Works for some years, designing imprinted sportswear for clients that included Fran Muncie (hydroplane racing teams Atlas Van Lines, Miss Budweiser, Miller American Racing, Executone, and The Squire Shop, to name a few), the
National Park Service, and businesses such as Mt. Bachelor and Scweitzer Ski Resorts, many college and university bookstores, and
Wild West's own retail outlets across the Northwestern United States. I have created mural-sized art for The University of Oklahoma,
Washington State's "Ryther Child Center" Correctional Intuitution, and various other private businesses.

I have also had some short fiction and prose professionally published, and at least one song recorded, possibly two ... I forget ...

Also as part of my job as an artist and animator for The Boeing Company for 17 years, I created traditional and computer-generated art
and animation that has been seen on the BBC, CNN, PBS, and local and national network news, notably for coverage of Boeing's
involvement in various space missions and the creation of the 777 airliner, the "21st Century Jet", which is still shown on "Discovery:Wings"

My day-job done, I would relax by
going home and creating art for myself, and that work has appeared in hundreds of amateur, semi-pro
and fan press publications, notably WESTWIND, the magazine of the Northwest Science Fiction Society, BCSFAZINE,
the British Columbia Science Fiction Association's newsletter, and many other science fiction convention program book covers,
interiors
and in newsletters all around the world, from Australia to Edmonton, Alberta, and the from UK to Japan.

I lived for the majority of my 50+ years in the vicinity of Seattle and Tacoma, Washington, but currently reside in the starkly beautiful
(if meteorologically capricious) Kittitas Valley in Central Washington. Fortunately, the advent of the Internet makes geographical location moot.

These pages are under construction, but I hope you enjoy browsing through my galleries and reading my notes. Of course, it wouldn't
break my heart if you saw something you'd really like to own and wanted to wave money at me in exchange, many items will be for sale.
However, some of them are already in private collections and are presented here simply for you to enjoy. On the other hand, there are
prints available for many of those. I ask that you respect my copyrights and not post or otherwise publish anything shown on these pages
without my express permission, or that of any otherwise-specified copyright holder from whom I have obtained such permission.

As soon as I can work out the finer details, I will establish my online store here. I also accept commission work for
privately owned art, corporate identity, small business graphics and advertising, and (of course) publications, electronic or print.
I have experience with 3D computer animation for court litigation and concept development and proposal presentations, as well.

Thank you for dropping in! Enjoy your stay! Please bookmark my site and visit again as it will be changing often!
